Job Description

Summary

Federal Annuitant GS-15 Deportation Officer needed for complex case investigation and policy, with full salary and annuity.

The Department of Homeland Security seeks a highly experienced Deportation Officer (GS-15) for a unique rehire opportunity for federal annuitants. This position offers a Dual Compensation Off-Set Waiver, allowing eligible CSRS and FERS annuitants to receive both full annuity and full Federal salary.

This is a non-status, term appointment initially for one year, with potential for extension based on agency needs.

  • *Key Responsibilities:**
  • Lead legal research and investigations for highly complex, precedent-setting deportation/exclusion cases.
  • Make decisions on complex deportation reconsideration requests, addressing jurisdictional issues.
  • Represent the agency at hearings and forums on detention and deportation activities.
  • Apply and develop agency-wide analytical management processes and systems.
  • Formulate and implement agency-wide detention and deportation policies.
  • *Required Qualifications (GS-15 Level):**
  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 grade level.
  • Experience must include performing duties such as conducting complex legal investigations, making decisions on intricate deportation requests, and developing agency-wide policies related to detention and deportation.
  • *Eligibility for Rehire (Federal Annuitants):**
  • Must be a CSRS or FERS annuitant.
  • Eligible for a Dual Compensation Off-Set Waiver (excludes annuitants with early voluntary and buyout retirements).
  • **Benefits include:** Full annuity, full Federal salary, annual/sick leave (for full-time), full-time work schedules, and overtime eligibility.
  • **Not eligible for:** Additional retirement coverage (other than Social Security) or TSP contributions.
