Aviation Safety Inspector specializing in Air Carrier or General Aviation, ensuring regulatory compliance and flight safety.

Join our team as an Aviation Safety Inspector, specializing in either Air Carrier Operations or General Aviation Operations, to ensure the highest standards of safety and compliance. We are looking for aviation professionals with significant flight experience and a dedication to safety regulations.

  • *General Requirements (for all specialties):**
  • No more than two Federal Aviation Regulations violations in the last 5 years.
  • Valid State driver's license.
  • Fluency in English.
  • No chemical dependencies or drug abuse that could impact performance.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • *Medical Requirements:**
  • Physically able to perform duties safely and efficiently, with or without accommodation.
  • Good distant vision in each eye and ability to read typewritten characters (with corrective lenses permitted).
  • Ability to hear conversational voice (with hearing aid permitted).
  • No physical condition that poses a hazard or interferes with flying as a passenger.
  • **For positions requiring aircraft operation:** Possess a valid second-class FAA medical certificate and pass recurrent medical examinations.
  • **For positions not requiring aircraft operation (tentatively selected):** Provide documentation from a board-certified physician or undergo an individualized assessment to confirm medical fitness.
  • *Specialized Experience (Minimum of 1 year equivalent to FV-J, FG/GS-14 grade level):**
  • Monitoring and evaluating aviation programs for regulatory compliance and standards.
  • Performing investigations and recommending effective solutions.
  • Developing policies, standards, programs, and procedures for an organization.
  • Leading groups and teams to address critical aviation safety issues.
  • *Recency of specialized experience requirements waived for current and former FAA employees in the 1825 series.*
  • *Specific Requirements by Specialty:**
  • *1. Air Carrier Operations:**
  • At least 1 year of pilot experience in multi-engine aircraft over 12,500 pounds maximum certificated takeoff weight.
  • Not more than 2 flying accidents involving pilot error within the last 5 years.
  • Professional flying skill demonstrated by a simulator check to Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Standard.
  • Minimum 100 flight hours within the last 3 years.
  • Airline Transport Pilot Certificate or Commercial Pilot Certificate with instrument airplane rating.
  • Minimum 1,500 total flight hours.
  • Possession of a valid second-class FAA medical certificate.
  • *2. General Aviation Operations:**
  • Valid, unexpired Flight Instructor Certificate with single and multi-engine airplane and instrument airplane ratings.
  • A minimum of 200 hours of flight instruction given in an aircraft.
  • Professional flying skill demonstrated by a flight check to Commercial Pilot Certificate with an instrument rating.
  • Airline Transport Pilot Certificate or Commercial Pilot Certificate with instrument airplane rating.
  • Minimum 100 flight hours within the last 3 years.
  • Minimum 1,500 total flight hours.
  • Possession of single and multi-engine land airplane ratings.
  • Not more than 2 flying accidents involving pilot error within the last 5 years.
  • Possession of a valid second-class FAA medical certificate.
