Job Description

Summary

Seeking a Deportation Officer to identify, apprehend, and investigate noncitizens, ensuring detainee safety and gathering intelligence.

The Department of Homeland Security is seeking experienced Deportation Officers. This rehire opportunity is open to eligible CSRS and FERS annuitants with a salary offset waiver.

  • *About the Role:**
As a Deportation Officer, you will play a critical role in national security and public safety by enforcing immigration laws.

  • *Key Responsibilities:**
  • Identify, locate, and arrest noncitizens posing threats to national security, public safety, or those who have entered the U.S. illegally.
  • Conduct complex legal research and investigations for deportation/exclusion cases.
  • Obtain and serve criminal and civil warrants, initiating deportation or criminal proceedings.
  • Ensure the safe, secure, and humane treatment of detainees in ICE custody.
  • Manage complex cases involving non-compliant detainees, including criminal prosecution.
  • Gather intelligence based on national requirements, including terrorism and proliferation.
  • *Qualifications (GS-13):**
  • One (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-12 grade level or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience in duties similar to those listed above.
  • *Compensation & Benefits (for eligible re-employed annuitants):**
  • Receive full annuity and full Federal salary.
  • Eligible for annual and sick leave (for full-time schedules).
  • Full-time work schedules available, including overtime and Administratively Uncontrollable Overtime (AUO).
  • *Important Notes:**
  • This is a non-status, term appointment (Not-to-Exceed 1 year, extendable).
  • Re-employed annuitants are not eligible for additional retirement coverage (other than Social Security) or TSP contributions.
