Lead strategic public affairs, communications, and media relations for a federal law enforcement agency, requiring specialized experience.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is seeking a highly skilled Public Affairs Lead (GS-14) to drive strategic communications and public engagement initiatives. This senior role involves shaping public perception and ensuring effective communication for a critical federal law enforcement agency.

  • *Key Responsibilities:**
  • Lead and direct comprehensive public affairs strategies, including integrated communication, strategic messaging, media relations, and social media engagement.
  • Develop high-level communication plans, executive briefings, and compelling speeches for senior leadership on complex and sensitive subjects.
  • Design, plan, and execute innovative public affairs programs, campaigns, and special projects.
  • Provide expert public affairs advice and counsel in high-level policy-making meetings and conferences.
  • Establish, implement, and monitor performance measures for public affairs initiatives, including tracking web and social media impact.
  • *Requirements:**
  • **Experience:** Possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 federal grade level, demonstrating expertise in the core responsibilities outlined above. Your resume must explicitly detail how you meet this specialized experience.
  • **Qualifications:** Meet all federal qualification requirements, including applicable time-in-grade.
  • **Background Check:** Ability to successfully pass a comprehensive background investigation, which includes checks for felony convictions and illegal drug use.
  • **Residency:** Must have physically resided in the United States or its protectorates for at least three of the last five years. (Exceptions may apply for federal employees, military, or those supporting the U.S. government abroad).
  • **Probationary Period:** New federal employees will complete a one-year probationary period.
  • Note: Qualifying experience includes both paid and unpaid/volunteer work.*
