U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is seeking an experienced Operations Research Analyst (GS-14) to lead critical analytical studies that inform strategic decision-making. This role demands a blend of advanced analytical skills, team leadership, and project management expertise within a dynamic federal law enforcement environment.

  • *Key Responsibilities:**
  • Translate complex mission requirements into quantitative models to evaluate staffing, scheduling, logistics, and resource deployment alternatives.
  • Produce high-impact briefings, dashboards, and executive decision memos with clear, actionable recommendations.
  • Lead and manage teams of analysts, overseeing work planning, prioritization, performance management, and training.
  • Coordinate and negotiate with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure the acceptance and successful implementation of study recommendations.
  • Execute comprehensive project management across analytical studies, ensuring adherence to scope, milestones, risks, and deliverables.
  • Guarantee methodological rigor, proper handling of sensitive data, and measurement of post-implementation impacts.
  • *Required Qualifications:**
  • **Education:**
* A degree in Operations Research; or * At least 24 semester hours in Operations Research, Mathematics, Probability, Statistics, Mathematical Logic, Science, or related fields requiring substantial college-level mathematics or statistics, including a minimum of 3 semester hours in calculus.
  • **Specialized Experience (GS-14 Level):**
* Minimum of one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 federal grade level. This experience must demonstrate proficiency in performing duties such as: * Translating mission requirements into quantitative models for resource optimization. * Developing and presenting actionable recommendations to executive leadership. * Managing analytical teams and overseeing project execution. * Coordinating with diverse stakeholders to implement study findings.

  • *Additional Requirements:**
  • **Background Investigation:** Successful completion of a thorough background investigation is required due to CBP's federal law enforcement mission.
  • **Residency:** Applicants not currently employed by CBP must have physically resided in the United States or its protectorates for at least three of the last five years (exceptions may apply).
  • **Probationary Period:** New federal employees must complete a one-year probationary period.
