## Supervisory Marine Interdiction Agent (GS-14)

Join U.S. Customs and Border Protection as a Supervisory Marine Interdiction Agent. This role involves leading critical marine interdiction operations, developing essential policies, and providing expert guidance to diverse law enforcement teams.

### Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement policies for vessel operational standardization and seaworthiness.
  • Evaluate marine interdiction programs and logistics.
  • Formulate comprehensive mission plans with clear goals and objectives.
  • Provide expert technical and operational guidance to federal, state, local, and international law enforcement agencies.
### Essential Qualifications:

  • *1. Maritime Credentials:**
  • **U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) Masters Certificate:** Must currently hold or have previously held a USCG Masters Certificate. Qualifying capacities include: Operator of Uninspected Passenger Vessel (OUPV), Mate of 200 GRT or greater (various endorsements), Chief Mate, Second Mate, Third Mate Unlimited Oceans, or Master of 25 GRT or greater (various endorsements). A legible copy must be uploaded with your application.
  • **or Issued Merchant Mariner License & Document (MMLD):** Must possess an unexpired, issued MMLD. Proof of an issued credential is required at the time of scheduling and assessment.
  • *2. Specialized Experience (GS-14 Level):**
  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level, performing duties such as:
* Developing policies for vessel operational readiness. * Evaluating marine interdiction programs and logistics. * Preparing comprehensive mission plans. * Providing technical and operational guidance to law enforcement staff with national significance.
  • *Note: Both paid and unpaid/volunteer experience is considered if it meets the requirements.*
  • *3. Federal Law Enforcement Training:**
  • Successful completion of relevant Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) training (e.g., Air and Marine Agents, Border Patrol Agents, Criminal Investigators).
  • This is an administrative Law Enforcement Officer (LEO) position requiring a mandatory prerequisite of prior experience in a primary/rigorous law enforcement or firefighting position, or equivalent experience outside of the federal government.
### Additional Requirements:
  • **Background Investigation:** A thorough background investigation is required, covering felony criminal convictions, current felony charges, and illegal drug use.
  • **Polygraph Examination:** May be required if you are not a current CBP employee in a law enforcement position. Polygraph reciprocity or waivers may be available for eligible candidates.
  • **Residency:** Must have physically resided in the United States or its protectorates for at least three of the last five years. Exceptions may apply for those working for the U.S. Government or military abroad.
  • **Probationary Period:** A one-year probationary period applies for new federal government employees.
