## Supervisory CBP Officer (GS-13)
Join U.S. Customs and Border Protection as a Supervisory CBP Officer, leading critical security operations and mentoring a team to protect national borders. This role requires extensive experience in law enforcement and border security.
### Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct pre-arrival targeting, intelligence gathering, and vetting using all available sources.
- Perform primary and secondary inspections of cargo, conveyances, and travelers.
- Develop, plan, and execute tactical operations in cargo and passenger environments.
- Employ various investigative techniques and prepare detailed reports on inspections, intelligence, and incidents.
- Liaise with internal and external contacts.
- Mentor and train junior CBP Officers and new personnel.
- One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level, performing duties similar to those listed above (e.g., advanced inspections, intelligence, tactical operations, reporting, mentoring).
- **Background Investigation:** Successful completion of a thorough background check, including inquiries into criminal history and drug use.
- **Polygraph Examination:** May be required; current CBP law enforcement employees or reemployed annuitants may qualify for a waiver.
- **Medical Screening:** Pass a medical examination.
- **Physical Fitness:** Successfully pass the Pre-employment Fitness Test.
- **Residency:** Must have physically resided in the U.S. or its protectorates for at least three of the last five years. Exceptions may apply for U.S. government employment abroad or specific academic programs.
- Work occurs in diverse settings including offices, aircraft operation areas, airline passenger/cargo areas, and marine docks.
- May involve outdoor work in extreme weather (snow, rain, heat) and remote locations without modern facilities.
- Potential exposure to toxic chemicals, pesticides, and fumigants, requiring the use of protective clothing (hard hats, gloves, goggles, respirators).
