Summary
Lead national programs, enforce laws, and ensure safety within Customs and Border Protection as a GS-14 officer.
Join U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) as a Supervisory Officer (Program Manager) at the GS-14 level. This role demands leadership in national programs, commitment to safety, and robust law enforcement and investigative capabilities.
- *Key Responsibilities:**
- Manage one or more national programs, ensuring effective operation and compliance.
- Identify and resolve unique policy issues where established guidelines may not exist.
- Support and implement an aggressive occupational safety and health program compliant with DHS and CBP regulations.
- Perform critical inspection, intelligence analysis, examination, and law enforcement activities, including investigating violations of CBP-enforced laws.
- Serve as a primary liaison with high-ranking officials in other Federal agencies and DHS management.
- *Mandatory Requirements:**
- *Experience:**
- **GS-14 Qualification:** Possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level. This experience must include duties such as managing national programs, resolving complex policy issues, supporting safety programs, conducting law enforcement/investigative activities, and liaising with senior officials.
- **Note:** Your resume must explicitly detail how you meet these requirements. Volunteer experience is recognized and counts towards qualification.
- *Secondary CBP Officer Special Retirement Coverage (SRC):**
- This position requires prior permanent service in a primary CBPO SRC role (e.g., Customs Inspector GS-1890, Immigration Inspector GS-1816, Canine Enforcement Officer GS-1801, or CBP Officer GS-1895).
- Knowledge, skills, and abilities gained from a primary CBPO SRC position are a mandatory prerequisite.
- Specific conditions regarding continuous service from a primary position apply.
- *General Requirements:**
- **Time in Grade:** Current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade (GS-13) or equivalent by November 26, 2025.
- **Background Investigation:** Successful completion of a thorough background investigation is mandatory for this federal law enforcement agency.
- **Polygraph Examination:** Required for non-current CBP law enforcement employees. Polygraph reciprocity or waivers for certain veterans may apply.
- **Medical & Physical Standards:** If not a current GS-1895, candidates must pass a medical screening and a Pre-employment Physical Fitness Test.
- **Probationary Period:** Current and former federal employees may be required to serve or complete a probationary period.
- **Political Appointee Disclosure:** Disclosure is required if you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political appointee.
