Summary
Supervise and manage border security programs for CBP, ensuring operational integrity and compliance, requiring prior primary CBPO experience.
Join U.S. Customs and Border Protection as a Supervisory CBP Officer in Field Programs. This critical GS-14 role involves leading and managing vital border security initiatives, ensuring operational integrity, and promoting national security.
- *Key Responsibilities:**
- Develop and evaluate performance measures for border security programs.
- Manage program resources and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Ensure policy compliance and uphold management accountability for border security initiatives.
- Oversee the identification, targeting, control, and examination of passengers and cargo to prevent terrorism and ensure export compliance.
- Monitor and evaluate employee work products, conduct performance evaluations, and implement strategies to improve productivity and quality.
- Apply national collective bargaining agreements and interact with union representatives to resolve issues.
- *Required Qualifications:**
- **Experience:** One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level, performing duties related to program evaluation, resource management, border security operations, supervisory oversight, and labor relations. Volunteer experience counts.
- **Prior Service (Mandatory):** Must have permanently served in a primary Customs and Border Protection Officer (CBPO) Special Retirement Coverage (SRC) position (e.g., Customs Inspector, Immigration Inspector, Canine Enforcement Officer, or CBP Officer). This is a secondary administrative CBPO SRC position.
- **Time-in-Grade:** Current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the GS-13 level (or equivalent) by November 26, 2025.
- *Pre-Employment & Security Requirements:**
- **Background Investigation:** Successful completion of a comprehensive background investigation, adhering to federal law enforcement agency standards, including checks for felony convictions and illegal drug use.
- **Polygraph Examination:** Required for applicants not currently in a CBP law enforcement position, with potential for reciprocity or waivers for certain veterans or prior federal exams.
- **Medical & Physical Fitness:** Must pass a medical screening and successfully complete the Pre-employment Fitness Test (PFT).
- **Probationary Period:** May be required upon selection.
