Job Description
Summary
Lead federal law enforcement operations, managing programs, and ensuring compliance as a Supervisory CBP Officer.
Join U.S. Customs and Border Protection as a Supervisory CBP Officer (Field Programs) at the GS-14 level, overseeing critical law enforcement and program management functions.
- *Key Responsibilities:**
- Manage and lead national programs.
- Identify and resolve unique policy issues.
- Support and maintain aggressive safety and health programs.
- Oversee inspection, intelligence analysis, examination, and law enforcement activities, including investigations.
- Serve as a high-level liaison with other federal agencies and DHS management.
- *Minimum Qualifications (GS-14):**
- One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level, demonstrating proficiency in the responsibilities listed above. (Volunteer experience counts.)

- *Important Requirements & Considerations:**
- **Secondary Retirement Coverage:** This position is subject to mandatory retirement provisions for Customs and Border Protection Officers. Applicants must have permanently served in a primary CBP Officer role (e.g., Customs Inspector GS-1890, Immigration Inspector GS-1816, Canine Enforcement Officer GS-1801, or CBP Officer GS-1895).
- **Time in Grade:** Current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the GS-13 level or equivalent by 08/08/2025.
- **Background Investigation:** All applicants undergo a thorough background investigation, including questions on felony convictions, charges, and illegal drug use.
- **Polygraph Examination:** Required for applicants not currently in a CBP law enforcement position (exceptions for reciprocity or veteran waiver may apply).
- **Physical Fitness Test:** Required for applicants not currently a GS-1895 CBP Officer.
- **Residency:** Must have physically resided in the United States or its protectorates for at least three of the last five years. (Exceptions may apply for U.S. government/military service or study abroad).
- **Probationary Period:** Current and former federal employees may be required to serve or complete a probationary period.
- **Political Appointees:** Disclosure required for current or former political appointees within the last 5 years.
