Join our team as a Supervisory Law Enforcement Officer, providing critical oversight and leadership for Border Patrol operations. This challenging role involves directing strategic programs, managing policy initiatives, and ensuring effective law enforcement action within your assigned area.

  • *Key Responsibilities:**
  • Provide direction and oversight for Border Patrol functions and operational programs.
  • Supervise, manage, and direct policy and program initiatives within an assigned area.
  • Exercise sound judgment in law enforcement actions, including making arrests and using firearms.
  • Effectively engage with individuals and groups in law enforcement matters.
  • Analyze information rapidly to make prompt decisions and take appropriate action.
  • Develop and maintain a network of informants.
  • *Requirements:**
  • **Experience:**
* One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level, performing duties such as providing direction for Border Patrol functions, supervising operational programs, or directing policy initiatives. * Demonstrated experience in law enforcement, including making arrests, using firearms, and effective interpersonal communication.
  • **Language:** Proficient in Spanish (speaking and reading).
  • **Firearms:** Ability to meet initial and continuing firearms qualifications under the Gun Control Act of 1968 (Lautenberg Amendment).
  • **Medical:** Successfully complete a medical screening and be physically capable of performing all job functions.
  • **Background:** Successfully pass a comprehensive background investigation.
  • **Polygraph:** Complete and pass a polygraph examination (reciprocity or waiver may apply for certain veterans or current federal polygraphs).
  • *Important Considerations:**
  • **Disqualifications:** Ineligible if convicted of a felony, unlawful user of controlled substances, subject to certain restraining orders, or convicted of domestic violence misdemeanors.
  • **Retirement:** This is a secondary position subject to special retirement provisions for law enforcement officers (CSRS/FERS).
  • Must meet all federal qualification requirements, including Time in Grade (if applicable).
