Job Description

Summary

Senior Law Enforcement Officer to develop national operations, policy, and manage programs, requiring specialized experience and Spanish fluency.

Join our team as a high-level Law Enforcement Officer (GS-15) to shape national operations and policy.

  • *Responsibilities:**
  • Develop and implement national/regional law enforcement operations, policy, and guidance.
  • Strategize and anticipate the impact of policy and procedural changes on overall operations.
  • Formulate operating plans and recommend annual budgets consistent with strategic goals.
  • Manage significant operational programs and their appropriate support functions.
  • *Requirements:**
  • **Experience:** One year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-14, demonstrating:
* Ability to make arrests and exercise sound judgment in the use of firearms. * Effective and tactful communication with individuals/groups in law enforcement matters. * Skill in rapidly analyzing information and making prompt, appropriate law enforcement decisions. * Ability to develop and maintain contact with a network of informants.
  • **Language:** Must be proficient in Spanish (speaking and reading).
  • **Firearms:** Meet initial and continuing firearms qualifications. Applicants with specific backgrounds (e.g., felony convictions, domestic violence misdemeanor convictions) are ineligible.
  • **Medical:** Successfully complete a medical screening; must be medically and physically capable of performing essential duties safely.
  • **Background Investigation:** Undergo a thorough background investigation, including questions on felony convictions and illegal drug use.
  • **Polygraph Examination:** Required for non-current CBP law enforcement employees; reciprocity or waiver options may be available.
  • **LEO Secondary Retirement Coverage:** This is a secondary law enforcement position subject to mandatory retirement provisions. Eligibility requires prior rigorous LEO service and continuous employment in secondary LEO positions. Prior primary/rigorous law enforcement experience (or equivalent) is a mandatory prerequisite, unless currently in a permanent Secondary LEO position.
  • **General:** Must be a U.S. citizen and meet all qualification requirements, including Time in Grade (if applicable for federal employees), by the specified deadline.
