  • *Key Responsibilities:**
  • Develop national and regional operational policies and guidance for field enforcement activities.
  • Implement new law enforcement strategies, anticipating the impact of policy and procedural changes on overall operations.
  • Formulate operating plans and recommend annual budgets consistent with strategic goals.
  • Manage major operational programs and their essential support functions.
  • *Mandatory Qualifications & Requirements:**
  • **Experience:** Possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-14 grade level, performing relevant law enforcement duties.
  • **Law Enforcement Acumen:** Demonstrated ability to make arrests, exercise sound judgment in firearm use, interact effectively with diverse individuals, rapidly analyze information, and make prompt decisions, including developing/maintaining informant networks.
  • **Language Proficiency:** Must be proficient (speak and read) in Spanish.
  • **Firearms Compliance:** Meet initial and continuing federal qualifications for firearm use, adhering to the Gun Control Act and Lautenberg Amendment.
  • **Medical Fitness:** Successfully complete a comprehensive medical screening to ensure safe and efficient performance of job duties.
  • **Background Investigation:** Pass a thorough background investigation, including assessment of criminal history and drug use.
  • **Polygraph Examination:** Successfully complete a polygraph examination (exceptions may apply for current CBP law enforcement employees or eligible veterans).
  • **Retirement Eligibility:** This is a Secondary Law Enforcement Officer (LEO) retirement-covered position. Candidates must meet specific criteria, including prior rigorous LEO experience, for special retirement provisions.
  • **Time in Grade (Federal Employees):** Current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent.
