## Senior Border Patrol Operations Manager (GS-15)

We are seeking a highly experienced leader to provide managerial, technical, and administrative direction for critical Border Patrol functions within an assigned area. This role involves overseeing major operational programs, directing nationwide policy initiatives, and developing strategic operational policies.

### Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive managerial, technical, and administrative oversight for all Border Patrol operations.
  • Manage significant operational programs and their supporting functions.
  • Direct the development and implementation of nationwide Border Patrol policies and program initiatives.
  • Develop, manage, and direct operational policies pertinent to Border Patrol activities.
### Required Qualifications:
  • **Experience:** A minimum of one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 grade level, performing duties related to Border Patrol functions, operational program management, or policy development.
  • **Law Enforcement Expertise:** Demonstrated ability in law enforcement, including:
* Making arrests and exercising sound judgment in the use of firearms. * Effectively engaging with individuals and groups in law enforcement matters. * Rapidly analyzing information and making prompt, appropriate law enforcement decisions. * Developing and maintaining a network of informants.
  • **Language Proficiency:** Must be proficient in the Spanish language (able to speak and read).
  • **Firearms Requirement:** Ability to meet initial and ongoing qualifications for firearm use. Ineligible if convicted of disqualifying crimes (e.g., felony, domestic violence), unlawful drug user, or subject to specific court orders.
  • **Medical Requirements:** Successfully complete a medical screening process to ensure capability to perform essential job functions safely.
  • **Background Investigation:** Subject to a thorough background investigation covering criminal convictions, drug use, and other security-related inquiries.
  • **Polygraph Examination:** This is a polygraph-required position. Non-CBP law enforcement applicants may be required to take a polygraph exam, with options for reciprocity or waiver for eligible veterans.
  • **Secondary Law Enforcement Officer Special Retirement:** This position is subject to mandatory retirement under special provisions. Eligibility typically requires prior service in a rigorous law enforcement position (minimum 3 years) with no break in service.
