Summary
Lead U.S. Border Patrol operations and policy development, requiring law enforcement experience, Spanish proficiency, and federal clearances.
This senior-level position requires proven leadership and extensive law enforcement experience to oversee U.S. Border Patrol operations and shape program policies.
- *Key Responsibilities:**
- Provide comprehensive technical and administrative direction for U.S. Border Patrol functions within an assigned area.
- Supervise, manage, and direct complex operational programs and their support functions.
- Collaborate with policymakers to develop, analyze, and interpret program management policies, resolving complex issues.
- *Qualifications & Requirements:**
- *Experience:**
- One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level, performing duties such as providing technical/administrative direction, supervising operations, and working with policymakers on program management.
- Demonstrated specialized law enforcement abilities including:
- *Mandatory Prerequisite:**
- Prior experience in a primary/rigorous law enforcement or firefighting position, or equivalent non-federal experience, is required. (Exempt if currently in a permanent Secondary LEO Retirement covered position).
- *Language Requirement:**
- Must be proficient in the Spanish language (able to speak and read).
- *Firearms Requirement:**
- Must meet initial and ongoing qualifications for firearm use. Strict disqualifiers apply, including felony convictions, domestic violence offenses, and certain legal prohibitions.
- *Medical Requirements:**
- Successfully complete a medical screening to ensure capability to perform essential job functions safely.
- *Background Investigation:**
- Undergo a thorough background investigation covering criminal history and controlled substance use.
- *Polygraph Examination:**
- A polygraph examination is required for this position. Non-current CBP law enforcement employees may be required to take a polygraph. Polygraph reciprocity or waivers for certain veterans may be accepted.
- *Retirement Coverage:**
- This is a secondary law enforcement position subject to mandatory retirement under special provisions. Eligibility requires meeting specific conditions regarding prior rigorous law enforcement service.
