Summary
Seeking a seasoned communications specialist to write, edit, strategize, and advise on public information for a federal agency.
Join a federal agency in a critical communication role, managing public affairs and information dissemination. This position requires a skilled professional to develop and implement effective communication strategies.
- *Key Responsibilities:**
- Write and edit a variety of materials, including reports, regulations, articles, news releases, training guides, and speeches.
- Develop, analyze, and present information tailored to diverse audiences.
- Advise agency management on policy formulation and potential public reactions.
- Identify communication needs and create informational materials about agency policies, programs, and services.
- Plan, execute, and evaluate communication programs to further agency goals.
- *Qualifications:**
- **Experience:** Possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 federal grade level. This includes duties such as writing/editing complex materials, developing communication strategies, advising on public reaction to policy, and evaluating communication programs.
- **Note:** Your resume must explicitly detail how you meet this specialized experience requirement.
- **Time in Grade:** Current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the GS-12 level (or equivalent) by 09/24/2025.
- Qualifying experience includes both paid and unpaid/volunteer work.
- *Additional Requirements:**
- **Background Investigation:** Successful completion of a thorough background investigation is mandatory for this federal law enforcement agency (CBP).
- **Residency:** Must have physically resided in the U.S. or its protectorates for at least three of the last five years. Exceptions may apply for U.S. government service or sponsored study abroad programs.
- **Probationary Period:** New federal employees will serve a one-year probationary period.
- **Political Appointees:** Disclosure required for current or former political appointees within the last five years.
