Lead AI/ML Solutions Architect, designing and implementing Generative AI and MLOps for AWS Public Sector customers.

## Senior AI/ML Specialist Solutions Architect, Public Sector (SLG/EDU)

Join the AWS Data and AI team as a Senior AI/ML Specialist Solutions Architect, focusing on U.S. State and Local Government and Education (SLG/EDU) customers. You will serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in designing, scaling, and deploying secure, cost-effective AI/ML, Generative AI, and Agentic AI solutions leveraging AWS services. This role is pivotal in guiding public sector organizations through their AI transformation, establishing robust MLOps practices, and delivering impactful outcomes for public services, student success, and operational efficiency.

### Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a trusted technical advisor to public sector customers (SLG/EDU), building strong relationships and guiding the adoption of AWS AI/ML services, particularly enterprise-grade AI/ML architectures, generative AI solutions, and autonomous agent systems.
  • Design and architect scalable, secure, and cost-effective AI/ML solutions using AWS’s comprehensive AI stack, from traditional machine learning to generative AI offerings, ensuring compliance and responsible AI practices.
  • Serve as a thought leader by developing and sharing practical technical assets like reference architectures, workshops, hands-on labs, and demo solutions showcasing modern AI patterns (LLM integration, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), autonomous agents, MLOps).
  • Amplify AWS thought leadership by publishing blogs, speaking at public sector events, hosting webinars, and contributing to technical communities focused on AI innovation in government and education.
### Basic Qualifications
  • 8+ years of IT development or implementation/consulting experience in software or Internet industries.
  • 5+ years of specific technology domain experience (e.g., software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics).
  • Minimum 5 years of experience building production-grade AI systems, including at least 2 years working with modern Generative AI technologies (e.g., LLMs, foundation models, RAG systems) and autonomous agent frameworks.
  • At least 4 years of experience implementing AI architecture patterns and MLOps practices, with a minimum of 3 successful deployments of enterprise-grade AI solutions serving 1,000+ users.
  • Deep technical expertise across the AI spectrum (traditional ML, deep learning, Generative AI, Agentic AI) with a strong mathematics and statistics foundation.
  • Hands-on experience with LLMs, foundation models, autonomous agent frameworks, RAG systems, prompt engineering, and multi-agent systems.
  • Proficiency with commercial and open-source technologies, including LangChain, Hugging Face, PyTorch, vector databases, and embedding models.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of engaging audiences from executives to developers.
### Preferred Qualifications
  • 5+ years of infrastructure architecture, database architecture, and networking experience.
  • Experience with open-source frameworks for building applications powered by language models (e.g., LangChain, LlamaIndex, CrewAI).
  • Experience designing, developing, and optimizing prompts and templates for LLM behavior.
  • Experience with the design, deployment, and evaluation of LLM-powered agents and orchestration.
  • Advanced degree in a quantitative field such as statistics, mathematics, data science, business analytics, economics, finance, engineering, or computer science.
### Additional Information
  • Ability to travel up to 30% across the U.S.
  • Base pay for this position ranges from $138,200/year to $239,000/year, dependent on market location and job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Total compensation includes equity, sign-on payments, and comprehensive benefits.

About

Amazon Web Services, Inc. (AWS) is a subsidiary of Amazon that provides on-demand cloud computing platforms and APIs to individuals, companies, and governments, on a metered, pay-as-you-go basis. Clients will often use this in combination with autoscaling. These cloud computing web services provide various services related to networking, compute, storage, middleware, IoT and other processing capacity, as well as software tools via AWS server farms. This frees clients from managing, scaling, and patching hardware and operating systems. One of the foundational services is Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), which allows users to have at their disposal a virtual cluster of computers, with extremely high availability, which can be interacted with over the internet via REST APIs, a CLI or the AWS console. AWS's virtual computers emulate most of the attributes of a real computer, including hardware central processing units (CPUs) and graphics processing units (GPUs) for processing; local/RAM memory; hard-disk (HDD)/SSD storage; a choice of operating systems; networking; and pre-loaded application software such as web servers, databases, and customer relationship management (CRM).
