Summary

Seeking skilled Federal Criminal Investigator (1811 series) with specialized training for a rigorous selection process.

  • *Minimum Qualifications:**
  • **Training:** Completion of FLETC Criminal Investigator Training Program (CITP), USCP Basic Agent Training Program (BATP), or equivalent from FBI, DEA, or U.S. Postal Inspection Service. Transcript/certificate required.
  • **Experience:** Minimum five (5) years in an 1811 series. (Waived for prior USCP employees).
  • **Citizenship:** Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • **Age:** Must not have reached 58 years of age at appointment (waivers may apply).
  • **Education:** High School Diploma or GED.
  • **Driver's License:** Valid REAL ID U.S. driver's license with a responsible driving record for the past year.
  • **Duty Status:** Must be in full and unrestricted duty status at application and appointment.
  • **Selective Service:** Male applicants must be registered or exempt from Selective Service.
  • *Hiring Process & Requirements:**
  • **Initial Assessment (Virtual):** Orientation providing an overview of the USCP and hiring process.
  • **Examination Phase (In-person, Washington D.C.):**
* **Psychological:** Battery of assessments and clinical interview (approx. 4-6 hours); virtual component requires desktop/laptop, camera, microphone. * **Medical:** Determine medical qualification; requires fasting. * **Polygraph:** To confirm selection process information. * *Note: USCP sworn employees retired within 12 months may be waived from these exams.*
  • **Background Investigation:** Full field investigation including employment, residential, personal references, criminal, credit, and academic records.
  • **Checks Required:** Comprehensive criminal history (past 10 years), credit check (no federal loan defaults), and fingerprint check.
  • **Disqualifiers:** Conviction of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence; deliberate misstatements, omissions, or withholding of required information at any stage of the hiring process.
  • **Travel Costs:** Applicants are responsible for travel expenses for hiring assessments and training.
  • **Probationary Period:** Must successfully complete a probationary period.
