Summary

Hiring Federal Criminal Investigators with FLETC/equivalent training and 5+ years 1811 experience.

Join our team as a Federal Criminal Investigator, utilizing your expertise to uphold justice and ensure security. This challenging role requires significant investigative experience and a commitment to a rigorous selection process.

  • *Minimum Qualifications:**
  • **Experience:** A minimum of five (5) years in an 1811 series, waived for prior USCP employees.
  • **Training:** Completion of FLETC Criminal Investigator Training Program (CITP), USCP Basic Agent Training Program (BATP), or equivalent from FBI, DEA, or U.S. Postal Inspection Service. A certificate or FLETC transcript is required with application.
  • **Citizenship:** Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • **Age:** Must not have reached 58 years of age at the time of appointment; waivers may apply.
  • **Education:** High School diploma or GED certificate.
  • **Driver's License:** Possess and maintain a valid REAL ID U.S. driver's license with evidence of responsible driving for the past year (no revocations or suspensions).
  • **Duty Status:** Must be in full and unrestricted duty status at both the time of application and appointment.
  • **Selective Service:** Male applicants must be registered for Selective Service.
  • **Firearm Eligibility:** Ineligible if convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence.
  • *Hiring Process & Assessments:**
Candidates will undergo a multi-phase hiring process to ensure suitability for this critical role.
  • **Initial Assessment (Virtual):** Orientation providing an overview of the USCP and the hiring process.
  • **Examination Phase (On-site in Washington, D.C.):** Candidates will complete psychological (4-6 hours), medical (requires fasting), and polygraph examinations. Efforts are made to schedule these consecutively.
* *Note:* USCP sworn employees retired within 12 months of application are waived from these examinations.
  • **Background Investigation:** A full field background investigation will review and verify employment, residential, personal references, criminal, credit, and academic records.
* *Honesty is paramount:* Deliberate misstatements, omissions, or withholding information at any stage will result in disqualification.
  • **Criminal History Check:** Pass a comprehensive 10-year criminal history check.
  • **Credit Check:** Pass a credit check; no default or delinquency on Federal guaranteed student loans.
  • **Fingerprint Check:** Submitted to the FBI.
  • **Travel Expenses:** Applicants are responsible for all travel costs associated with hiring assessments and training.
  • **Post-Hire:** Successful completion of all required training and a probationary period is mandatory.
