The U.S. Capitol Police (USCP) is seeking highly qualified Criminal Investigators for the 1811 series. This role demands extensive investigative experience and successful navigation of a comprehensive hiring process.

• *Key Requirements:**
• **Training:** Must have completed the FLETC Criminal Investigator Training Program (CITP), USCP Basic Agent Training Program (BATP), or an equivalent from the FBI, DEA, or U.S. Postal Inspection Service. A certificate or FLETC transcript is required with your application.
• **Experience:** A minimum of five (5) years of experience in an 1811 series is required at the time of application. This requirement is waived for prior USCP employees.
• **Citizenship:** Must be a United States Citizen.
• **Age:** Must not have reached 58 years of age at the time of appointment (waivers may apply).
• **Education:** High School diploma or GED certificate is required.
• **Driver's License:** Possess and maintain a valid REAL ID U.S. driver's license with evidence of responsible driving for the past year (no revocations/suspensions).
• **Duty Status:** Must be in a full and unrestricted duty status at the time of application and appointment.
• **Selective Service:** Male applicants must be registered for Selective Service or verify exemption.
• **Criminal History:** Must successfully pass a comprehensive 10-year criminal history check. Applicants with a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence conviction are ineligible.
• **Credit History:** Must successfully pass a credit check, with no defaults or delinquencies on Federal guaranteed student loans.
• *Hiring Process Overview:**

The selection process involves multiple phases. Travel for hiring assessments and training is at the applicant's expense.

• **Initial Assessment Phase (Virtual):**

* Conducted virtually. * Includes an orientation providing an overview of USCP and the hiring process.

• **Examination Phase (In-Person, Washington D.C.):**

* Your first required visit to the Washington, D.C. office. Efforts will be made to schedule examinations consecutively. * **Psychological Examination:** 4-6 hours, including assessments and a clinical interview. Conducted online, requiring a desktop/laptop, camera, and microphone. * **Medical Examination:** Determines medical qualification to perform job functions. Fasting is required prior to examination. * **Polygraph Examination:** Confirms information obtained throughout the selection process. * *Note:* USCP sworn employees who retired no more than 12 months prior to application for a reemployed annuitant position are waived from completing medical, psychological, and polygraph examinations.

• **Background Investigation:**

* A full field background investigation including employment, residential, personal references, criminal and credit history, and academic records verification. * Fingerprints will be submitted to the FBI. * **Important:** Deliberate misstatements, omissions, or intentionally withholding required information at any phase will result in disqualification.

• *Post-Hire Requirements:**
• Successfully complete all required training.
• Successfully complete a probationary period.
