Summary

Seeking experienced federal law enforcement officers with CITP completion for critical roles, requiring a rigorous selection process.

  • *Key Requirements:**
  • **Training & Experience:**
* Completed FLETC Criminal Investigator Training Program (CITP) or equivalent (FBI, DEA, U.S. Postal Inspection Service). Provide certificate/transcript. * Current law enforcement employment with 9 months of post-training experience at application, and 52 weeks at appointment. * Must be in full, unrestricted duty status at time of application and appointment. * *Lateral Transfers:* Current law enforcement employed outside USCP. Special age considerations apply for federal law enforcement officers; provide SF-50 if 39+.

  • **Eligibility & Background:**
* U.S. Citizenship is mandatory. * High School Diploma or GED required. * Valid U.S. driver's license (REAL ID) with a responsible driving record for the past year; no revocations or suspensions. * Meet age requirements: Typically 21-39 at appointment (or 40 if turning 40 in the same month), with mandatory retirement by age 59. Specific provisions for lateral transfers over 39 to ensure 20 years of federal service. * Male applicants must be Selective Service registered or exempt.

  • **Hiring Process & Checks:**
* Successful completion of a comprehensive background investigation, including: * Credit and criminal history checks (no domestic violence misdemeanor convictions; no default/delinquent federal student loans). * Fingerprint check (FBI). * Thorough review of employment, residential, and personal history. * Pass all phases of the assessment process: * **Virtual Initial Assessment:** Orientation. * **In-person Examinations (Washington D.C.):** Psychological assessment/interview, medical examination (fasting required), and polygraph. * Candidates are responsible for travel expenses to assessments and training. * Successful completion of all required training and a probationary period is mandatory.
