- *Key Responsibilities:**
- Apply advanced investigative, protective, and law enforcement techniques.
- Plan and conduct complex criminal investigations into Federal law violations.
- Collect, analyze, and evaluate facts, evidence, and data to reach sound conclusions.
- Conduct interviews and interrogations, make arrests, and execute searches and seizures.
- Lead or partner with diverse teams to achieve critical mission objectives.
- (For higher levels) Identify problem areas, propose solutions, manage complex projects, and allocate resources.
- *Qualifications & Compensation (Based on Grade Level):**
- **GL-07 (Starting Salary: $48,371)**
- **GL-09 (Starting Salary: $53,945)**
- **GS-11 (Starting Salary: $63,163)**
- *Application & Assessment Process:**
All applicants must successfully pass multi-phase assessments to receive final employment consideration:
- **Phase I:** National Crime Information Center (NCIC) Special Agent Entrance Exam (SAEE), Applicant Physical Abilities Test (APAT), and Interview.
- **Phase II:** Credit Check, Security Interview, Polygraph examination, Drug screening, Medical examination, and a Top-Secret Background Investigation.
- *Physical Requirements:**
- *Drug Policy:** The agency maintains stringent guidelines regarding illegal drug usage. Your history will be reviewed in accordance with this policy.
- *Ideal Candidate Profile (CAT Program - Combat Arms & Tactical):**
Candidates with one or more of the following backgrounds are highly desired (relevant documentation required):
- Occupied a combat arms occupational specialty in the U.S. Armed Forces.
- Served as a tactical team member (non-support/administrative role) in a Department of Defense special operations unit.
- Served as a military member with direct combat experience.
- Served as a member of a federal, state, or local law enforcement tactical team.
- Participated as a student athlete at a college or university.
- Participated as a professional athlete in a sport.
