Summary

Federal Investigator conducting complex criminal investigations, requiring specialized experience, Federal Law Enforcement Training, and rigorous screening.

Join a federal agency as an Investigator, conducting critical criminal investigations and upholding national security. This challenging role demands extensive investigative skills, physical readiness, and adherence to stringent federal guidelines.

  • *Key Responsibilities:**
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute complex federal investigative activities, including surveillance and informant development.
  • Gather and analyze intelligence from diverse sources, such as electronic devices, informants, private citizens, victims, and federal law enforcement agencies.
  • Investigate violations of U.S. laws related to fraudulent credit/debit cards, access devices, computers/telecommunications equipment, and federal identification.
  • Prepare and present cases for prosecution in Federal courts, often in coordination with other federal and international agencies.
  • Analyze and evaluate federal programs, providing recommendations for achieving program goals (primarily for GS-13 level).
  • *Required Qualifications:**
  • **Experience:**
* **GS-12 Level:** One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 federal service, involving planning and conducting federal investigations, developing intelligence sources, and preparing cases for prosecution. * **GS-13 Level:** One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 federal service, including investigating sophisticated financial/cyber crimes, coordinating complex multi-jurisdictional investigations, and analyzing program effectiveness.
  • **Mandatory Requirement:** Completion of a Federal Law Enforcement Training Program.
  • *Federal Time-in-Grade requirements apply for current or former federal employees.*
  • *Hiring Process & Requirements:**

Applicants must successfully pass a multi-phase recruitment process, including:

  • National Crime Information Center (NCIC) Structured Interview
  • Security Interview
  • Polygraph examination
  • Drug screening (adherence to strict federal guidelines is essential)
  • Medical examination
  • Background investigation for a Top-Secret security clearance (reciprocity granted)
  • Physical Fitness and Firearms Assessment
  • *Physical Demands:**
  • Ability to perform moderate to arduous physical exertion (e.g., walking, standing, use of firearms).
  • Required manual dexterity with comparatively free motion of fingers, wrists, elbows, shoulders, hips, and knee joints.
  • Capacity to function effectively in inclement weather and physically demanding situations.
