Job Description
Summary
Manage agency public information, disseminate materials, respond to inquiries, and ensure accurate public communication.
This role is for a GS-12 level position responsible for managing public and media information regarding agency programs.
- *Key Responsibilities:**
- Prepare and provide accurate information about agency programs to the general public and media.
- Consult with program specialists to gather current customs and immigration regulations for inquiries.
- Evaluate information for appropriateness before communicating to the public and special interest groups.
- Respond to information requests.
- Independently identify, collect, and prepare materials for public dissemination.
- *Qualifications & Requirements:**
- **Experience:** 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level, performing duties as listed above. Your resume must explicitly detail how you meet this requirement.
- **Federal Employees:** Must meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements (52 weeks at the next lower grade) by 08/08/2025.
- **Political Appointees:** Disclosure required if you are, or have been within the last 5 years, a political appointee in the Executive Branch.
- **Background Investigation:** Successful completion of a thorough background investigation, including questions on felony convictions and illegal drug use, is required.
- **Residency:** For applicants not currently employed by CBP, physical residency in the U.S. or its protectorates for at least three of the last five years is required. Exceptions may apply for U.S. government-related overseas work or study abroad.
- **Probationary Period:** New federal employees will serve a one-year probationary period.
- **CTAP Eligibility:** If CTAP eligible, a minimum score of 85 is required to be considered well-qualified.
