Realty Officer (Director, Real Property Program Management Office)

We are seeking a highly experienced leader to manage significant real estate programs within a federal agency. This role involves overseeing department-wide missions, executing complex real estate transactions, and continuously improving program operations.

• *Key Responsibilities:**
• Lead and direct major departmental mission or administrative programs, applying advanced qualitative system and management principles.
• Manage comprehensive real estate activities, including acquisition, disposal, appraisal, leasing, and claims resolution.
• Provide strategic leadership in developing, implementing, evaluating, and enhancing processes for the real estate program.
• *Qualifications:**
• **Experience:** Equivalent to the GS-15 grade level, typically requiring one year of specialized experience at the GS-14 level or equivalent. This includes experience in:

* Leading teams or programs in complex administrative or mission-critical environments. * Directly engaging in real estate acquisition, disposal, leasing, appraisal, and claims management. * Developing and implementing process improvements for real estate programs.

• *Additional Requirements:**
• **Background Investigation:** Successful completion of a thorough background investigation conducted by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), including screening for criminal history and controlled substance use.
• **Residency:** For applicants not currently employed by CBP, required to have physically resided in the U.S. or its protectorates for at least three of the last five years. Exceptions may apply for U.S. government service or sponsored study abroad.
• **Probationary Periods:** New federal employees will serve a one-year probationary period. An 18-month supervisory probationary period may also be required.
• **Leadership Training:** Newly appointed GS-15s must complete a mandatory 5-week in-residence training in Harpers Ferry, WV (may be waived if previously completed).
