Job Description

Summary

Analyzes federal legislation, manages information flow, and prepares executive briefings for Congressional inquiries.

To be considered for this position, candidates must possess a strong understanding of the U.S. legislative process and specialized experience in government relations and policy analysis. No substitution of education for specialized experience is permitted.

  • *Required Qualifications & Experience:**
  • **Relevant Specialized Experience:** A minimum of one year of specialized experience directly related to the duties outlined below. This experience must be creditable, demonstrating the specific qualifications needed and showing actual time spent (e.g., hours per week).
  • **U.S. Congressional Process:** Demonstrated knowledge of the structure, operations, procedures, and activities of the U.S. Congress and the process by which federal legislation is developed, amended, and enacted.
  • **Information Liaison:** Ability to provide a smooth and accurate flow of information between agency components, government agencies, and the public.
  • **Legislative Impact Analysis:** Experience preparing summaries of the impact of legislation, including assessment of its effect on Federal, State, and/or local corrections and criminal justice systems.
  • **Executive Briefing Materials:** Skill in preparing issue papers, talking points, and other briefing materials for executive-level officials to respond to Congressional inquiries.
