Job Description

Summary

Lead legislative analysis, program management, and complex problem-solving at the GS-14 federal level.

This GS-14 level position requires a professional to provide high-level program and policy analysis within a federal agency. The role focuses on evaluating legislative impact, developing robust management systems, and resolving complex operational and legal challenges.

  • *Key Responsibilities:**
  • Evaluate new or modified legislation to determine its projected impact on agency programs.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor project and program management systems to support long- and short-range plans.
  • Identify and develop solutions for complex issues, including technology and legal requirements, directly affecting the agency mission.
  • *Required Experience:**
  • **Specialized Experience:** A minimum of one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 federal grade level. This experience must clearly demonstrate the ability to:
* Evaluate the content of new or modified legislation for program impact. * Develop, implement, and monitor project and program management systems. * Identify and resolve complex problems, including technology and legal requirements, affecting an agency mission.
  • *Note:* Your resume must explicitly detail how you meet these requirements. Relevant volunteer experience is credited towards qualification.
  • *General Qualifications:**
  • Meet all federal qualification requirements, including Time in Grade (current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the GS-13 level or equivalent by September 26, 2025).
  • *Additional Requirements:**
  • **Background Investigation:** Successful completion of a thorough background investigation by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), a federal law enforcement agency, is mandatory. This includes questions regarding criminal convictions and drug use.
  • **Residency:** Applicants not currently employed by CBP must generally have physically resided in the United States or its protectorates for at least three of the last five years. Exceptions may be considered for those with U.S. government-related foreign assignments or study abroad.
  • **Probationary Period:** New federal employees will serve a one-year probationary period.
  • **Political Appointee Disclosure:** Current or former political Schedule A, Schedule C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employees must disclose this information.
