Police Officer (Uniformed Division) Emergency Response Team

The U.S. Secret Service is seeking dedicated individuals for the Uniformed Division Officer role, responsible for critical protective and law enforcement duties under challenging conditions. This demanding position requires exceptional physical fitness, mental fortitude, and adherence to stringent security protocols.

• *Salary:** Starting at $75,134.00 (LE-01 grade level).
• *Key Responsibilities:**
• Perform protective and law enforcement duties.
• Engage in moderate to arduous physical exertion, including walking, standing, and firearm use.
• Operate effectively in various weather conditions.
• Ensure the safety of others in challenging environments.
• *Requirements & Qualifications:**
• **Age:** Must be 20 at application; 21 at time of appointment.
• **Education:** Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
• **Medical & Physical Standards:**

* Corrected visual acuity of 20/20 or better in each eye (specific post-surgery waiting periods apply). * Hearing loss not exceeding 25 decibels in 500, 1000, and 2000 Hz ranges in either ear. * Pass the Applicant Physical Abilities Test (APAT), measuring muscular strength, endurance, flexibility, and aerobic capacity (includes push-ups, sit-ups, Illinois Agility Run, 1.5 Mile Run). * Possess manual dexterity and full range of motion; arms, hands, legs, and feet must function sufficiently. * Demonstrate emotional and mental stability for duties involving public safety. * Meet general medical requirements; chronic conditions impairing full performance are disqualifying.

• **Security Clearance:** Ability to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret Clearance.
• **Trial Period:** Required to serve a 2-year trial period to assess fitness and public interest.
• **Drug Policy:** Adherence to strict U.S. Secret Service drug guidelines; prior use will be reviewed.
• *Ideal Candidate Profile (ONE of the following SEVEN categories):**
• **Military (Current/Former):**

* Occupied a combat arms occupational specialty in the U.S. Armed Forces. * Served as a tactical operator (non-support/administrative) in the U.S. Armed Forces. * Successfully completed requisite training for a military special operations unit. * Served as a military member with direct combat experience (even if not combat arms).

• **Law Enforcement (Current/Former):**

* Served as a tactical operator (non-support/administrative) in a U.S. Government special operations unit. * Served as a member of a federal, state, or local law enforcement tactical team. * Completed requisite training for a U.S. Government special operations unit or federal/state/local law enforcement tactical team. * *Documentation satisfying these categories is recommended.*

• *Application & Assessment Process:**
• **Phase I (Conditional Offer):**

* National Crime Information Center (NCIC) check. * Uniformed Division Entrance Examination (UDEE). * Applicant Physical Abilities Test (APAT). * Special Agent and Uniformed Division Pre-Employment Review (Super) Interview.

• **Phase II (Final Consideration):**

* Credit Check/Security Interview. * Polygraph examination. * Drug screening. * Medical examination. * Background investigation (leading to Top-Secret security clearance).
