  • *Position Details:**
  • **Grade Level:** LE-01
  • **Starting Salary:** $75,134.00
  • **Trial Period:** A 2-year trial period applies.
  • *Key Responsibilities (Implicit):**
  • Protect designated individuals and secure critical locations.
  • Enforce laws and respond to security incidents.
  • Perform duties requiring moderate to arduous physical exertion, including firearm use and exposure to various weather conditions.
  • *Minimum Requirements:**
  • Possess a high school diploma or certificate of equivalency.
  • Be 20 years old at the time of application and 21 at the time of appointment.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret Clearance.
  • Adherence to stringent drug policy guidelines.

  • *Ideal Candidate Profile (Must meet ONE of the following seven categories):**
  • **Military Background:**
* Successful completion of a Level 1 or Level 2 sniper training program. * Possess a combat arms occupational specialty in the U.S. Armed Forces. * Served as a tactical operator (non-support/administrative role) in the U.S. Armed Forces. * Successfully completed the requisite training course for a military special operations unit.
  • **Law Enforcement Background:**
* Served as a tactical operator (non-support/administrative role) in a U.S. Government special operations unit. * Served as a member of a federal, state, or local law enforcement tactical team. * Completed the requisite training course for a U.S. Government special operations unit or a federal, state, or local law enforcement tactical team. * *Documentation of specialized training is highly recommended.*

  • *Physical & Medical Standards:**
  • **Vision:**
* Uncorrected visual acuity no worse than 20/100 binocular. * Corrected visual acuity of 20/20 or better in each eye. * Acceptable corrective eye surgeries (LASIK, ALK, RK, PRK) require specific waiting periods before visual tests (LASIK: 2 months, PRK: 6 months, ALK/RK: 1 year). * Must successfully pass the Ishihara Color Vision Test.
  • **Hearing:**
* Loss not exceeding 25 decibels in either ear across 500, 1000, and 2000 Hz ranges. * Ability to hear a whispered voice at 15 feet with each ear without a hearing aid.
  • **General Physical:**
* Manual dexterity with free motion of fingers, wrists, elbows, shoulders, hips, and knee joints. * Must pass the Applicant Physical Abilities Test (APAT), which includes push-ups, sit-ups, an Illinois Agility Run, and a 1.5-mile run.
  • **Mental & Emotional Stability:** Required for the exacting duties and responsibility for the safety of others.
  • Any chronic condition impairing full performance is disqualifying.

* National Crime Information Center (NCIC) check * Uniformed Division Entrance Examination (UDEE) * Applicant Physical Abilities Test (APAT) * Interview

* Credit Check/Security Interview * Polygraph Examination * Drug Screening * Medical Examination * Background Investigation (for Top-Secret security clearance)
