Job Description
Lead and manage advanced scientific and technical programs involving monitoring technologies, AI/ML, and strategic senior leadership engagement.
We are seeking a highly qualified professional to manage advanced scientific and technical programs within a federal agency. This role involves leading initiatives related to critical monitoring technologies and cutting-edge research.
**Key Responsibilities (Vary by GS Level):**
* Analyze trends, identify gaps, and develop/implement long-range strategies and plans.
* Brief and provide recommendations to senior leadership.
* Initiate, lead, or participate in international, interagency, or DoD forums.
* Plan, manage, and provide technical/fiscal direction for complex procurement, operations and maintenance, or research and development efforts.
* Oversee and manage contractor performance, ensuring adherence to quality and funding requirements.
* Form and lead teams of technical or operational personnel.
**Required Technical Expertise:**
* Nuclear/chemical explosion or earthquake monitoring and detection technologies.
* Modeling and simulation.
* Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning (AI/ML).
**Qualification Levels:**
**GS-15 Level (Equivalent to GS-14 Federal Service Experience):**
* One year of specialized experience demonstrating extensive leadership and depth in all key responsibilities, particularly:
* Initiating and leading representation at international, interagency, or DoD forums.
* Technical direction, management, and fiscal control of *multiple complex projects* executed by multiple performers.
**GS-14 Level (Equivalent to GS-13 Federal Service Experience):**
* One year of specialized experience demonstrating strong capabilities in all key responsibilities, particularly:
* Participating in international, interagency, or DoD forums.
* Project planning, acquisition, and management of a portfolio comprised of *several projects* executed by several performers.
**Education Requirements:**
* A degree in physical science, engineering, or mathematics that includes 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science (e.g., mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, electronics).
* **OR** A combination of education and experience, including education equivalent to the major described above with at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
