Summary

Seeking an Operations Research Analyst for CBP to lead complex cost estimating and analysis, supporting critical acquisition decisions.

Join U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) as an Operations Research Analyst focused on cost estimating and analysis. In this critical role, you will apply advanced analytical methods to inform strategic acquisition decisions and enhance organizational efficiency.

  • *Key Responsibilities:**
  • Lead the application of cost estimating and analysis best practices and innovative methodologies.
  • Resolve unique and complex cost estimating challenges, significantly impacting standard practices.
  • Provide expert cost analysis to support critical acquisition decisions for program offices.
  • Develop and execute significant cost estimates that inform and enhance the organizational mission.
  • Generate innovative recommendations to advance programs, processes, and estimating methods.
  • *Required Qualifications:**
  • **Education:**
* Degree in Operations Research; or * 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, or science requiring substantial college-level mathematics or statistics (including at least 3 semester hours in calculus). * Must demonstrate sufficient knowledge of applied mathematics for operations research methods.
  • **Experience:** One year of specialized experience (equivalent to GS-13 federal service) performing duties such as:
* Applying cost estimating/analysis best practices and new approaches. * Resolving unique cost estimating problems or significantly impacting standard practices. * Providing cost analysis expertise for acquisition decisions. * Developing and executing significant cost estimates for an organizational mission. * Providing innovative cost analysis recommendations.

  • *Additional Requirements:**
  • Ability to pass a thorough background investigation required by a federal law enforcement agency.
  • Residency: Must have physically resided in the U.S. or its protectorates for at least three of the last five years (exceptions for U.S. government service or sponsored study may apply).
  • New federal employees will serve a one-year probationary period.
