## Operations Research Analyst - GS-13/14

• *Overview:**

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is seeking an Operations Research Analyst to apply advanced quantitative methods and analytical expertise to complex organizational challenges. This role supports data-driven decision-making and informs senior leadership.

• *Responsibilities (Vary by Grade Level):**
• Manage and coordinate cross-functional analytics projects.
• Develop and implement new analytical procedures, techniques, and theories.
• Establish quantitative relationships between investments/costs and performance outputs.
• Evaluate data and integrate results into comprehensive recommendations and reports.
• Develop statistical and descriptive analytic products to support senior leadership decisions.
• Communicate analytical findings effectively to senior management and non-technical stakeholders through reports, presentations, and data visualizations.
• Apply research, statistical, and mathematical methodologies to identify issues, propose corrective actions, and implement solutions.
• Formulate, justify, and present project proposals.
• *Required Qualifications:**
• *Education:**
• A degree in operations research; or
• At least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or related courses requiring substantial college-level mathematics or statistics.
• At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus.
• *Experience:**
• **GS-13 Level:** One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level, performing duties similar to those listed in the responsibilities section.
• **GS-14 Level:** One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level, performing duties similar to those listed in the responsibilities section, with a focus on communicating findings to senior leadership and advanced methodological application.
• *Additional Requirements:**
• Must undergo a thorough background investigation.
• **U.S. Residency:** Required to have physically resided in the United States or its protectorates for at least three of the last five years, with exceptions for U.S. government/military service abroad.
• **Probationary Period:** New federal employees must complete a one-year probationary period.
