Summary
Enforce U.S. border security, screen entries, seize illegal goods, and facilitate legitimate trade and travel.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection is seeking dedicated professionals to secure our national borders and enforce federal regulations.
- *Key Responsibilities:**
- Enforce U.S. laws and regulations, including immigration and drug laws.
- Secure and facilitate legitimate trade and travel.
- Screen passengers, vehicles, and shipments entering the United country.
- Seize illegal narcotics, prohibited vehicles, and agricultural products.
- Prevent unauthorized entry and provide assistance to individuals in dangerous border conditions.
- *Qualifications:**
- **Experience:** Possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 federal level, performing duties related to border security, law enforcement, and customs operations. Your resume must clearly detail this experience.
- **Federal Employees:** Must meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements.
- **Background Investigation:** Successfully complete a thorough background investigation. This includes checks for felony convictions, current felony charges, and illegal drug use.
- **Residency:** Must have physically resided in the United States or its protectorates for at least three of the last five years. Exceptions may apply for U.S. government employees, military personnel, or those on U.S.-sponsored study abroad programs.
- **Probationary Period:** New federal employees will serve a one-year probationary period upon initial appointment.
