Seeking a senior Materials Engineer to lead complex projects, research, and provide technical guidance for materials solutions.

Job Title (Implied): Materials Engineer (GS-13)

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Materials Engineer (GS-13 level) to lead and manage complex materials engineering initiatives. This role involves providing expert technical guidance, leading innovative research, and overseeing project execution for advanced materials solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide advanced technical guidance and recommendations for the design and development of materials engineering solutions.
  • Lead and drive research initiatives to advance materials engineering technologies and methodologies.
  • Plan, coordinate, and manage intricate materials engineering projects, defining scope, timelines, budgets, and deliverables.

Qualifications:

Applicants must meet both Basic and Minimum Qualification requirements by the closing date. All qualifying experience, including volunteer work, will be considered.

Basic Requirements (One of the following):

  • Education: A Bachelor's degree in Engineering from a school with at least one ABET-accredited program.
*or* A Bachelor's degree program including differential and integral calculus, plus advanced courses in five of the following seven engineering science/physics areas: statics, dynamics; strength of materials; fluid mechanics, hydraulics; thermodynamics; electrical fields and circuits; nature and properties of materials; or comparable areas like optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, electronics.

  • Combination of Education & Experience: College-level education, training, or technical experience demonstrating a thorough knowledge of physical/mathematical sciences underlying engineering, and a good understanding of engineering sciences and their applications.
* This must be evidenced by one of the following: * Current professional registration or licensure (Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or Professional Engineer (PE)). * Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination or another written test required for professional engineering registration. * Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours in physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences, including courses as described in the Education option above. * A Bachelor's degree in a related scientific field (e.g., engineering technology, physics, computer science) PLUS at least one year of professional engineering experience under supervision and guidance, with a clear plan for developing professional engineering competence or equivalent prior experience.

Minimum Qualifications (for GS-13 Level):

  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level, performing duties such as:
* Providing technical guidance for materials engineering solutions. * Leading research to advance materials engineering technologies. * Planning, coordinating, and managing complex materials engineering projects (scope, timelines, budgets, deliverables).

Salary: Starting at $120,579.00 annually.
