Summary

Materials Engineer (GS-13) to lead projects, research, and technical guidance. Requires an engineering degree and specialized experience.

This position requires a skilled Materials Engineer to lead advanced projects, research, and technical guidance. This role is a GS-13 level position, starting at a salary of $120,579.00.

  • *Responsibilities:**
  • Provide expert technical guidance and recommendations for developing materials engineering solutions.
  • Lead research initiatives to advance materials engineering technologies and methodologies.
  • Plan, coordinate, and manage complex materials engineering projects, including defining scope, timelines, budgets, and deliverables.
  • *Qualifications:**
  • **Experience:** Possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level, performing duties such as providing technical guidance, leading research, and managing complex materials engineering projects.
  • **Basic Requirements (Applicants must meet one of the following):**
* **Degree:** A Bachelor's degree in Engineering from a school with at least one program accredited by ABET. * **Alternative Degree:** A Bachelor's degree in an appropriate scientific field (e.g., Engineering Technology, Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science, Mathematics) and at least one year of professional engineering experience acquired under professional supervision. * **Combined Education and Experience:** College-level education, training, and/or technical experience demonstrating a thorough knowledge of physical and mathematical sciences underlying engineering, along with a practical understanding of engineering sciences and techniques. This must be demonstrated by one of the following: * Current professional registration or licensure as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or Professional Engineer (PE). * Evidence of successfully passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination or another written test required for professional registration. * Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours in physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences, including specific courses as outlined in typical engineering degree requirements.

  • *Additional Federal Employee Requirements (if applicable):**
  • **Time-in-Grade:** If a current or former federal employee, you must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade (GS-12) to meet time-in-grade requirements.
  • **Documentation:** Current or former federal employees must submit SF-50(s) showing proof of status and time-in-grade eligibility.
  • **Volunteer Experience:** Qualifying volunteer experience is credited equally to paid experience.
  • **Political Appointee Disclosure:** Current or former political appointees must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.
