Plan, conduct studies, develop management systems, and advise on policies within a federal government context.

## About the Role Join a federal agency in a critical role focused on strategic planning, management systems, and policy development. This position provides essential support to management by analyzing programs and developing directives.

## Key Responsibilities

  • Lead or participate in specialized studies and analyses.
  • Provide expert technical assistance and direct support to management on planning systems and management programs.
  • Develop and oversee sophisticated management information systems (MIS) for long and short-range planning.
  • Plan, develop, and coordinate planning management through executive briefings, presentations, and conferences.
  • Formulate and implement new policies, issuances, and directives.
## Qualifications & Experience
  • **Specialized Experience:** A minimum of one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 federal grade level. This experience must include duties such as planning/conducting studies, providing management support, developing/monitoring MIS, coordinating planning, or developing policies.
  • **Volunteer Experience:** Paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps), is credited towards qualification.
  • **Resume Requirement:** Your resume must explicitly detail how you meet these experience requirements.
## Important Federal & Agency-Specific Requirements
  • **Background Investigation:** Successful completion of a thorough background investigation is mandatory for employment with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). This includes inquiries into criminal history and controlled substance use.
  • **Residency:** You must have physically resided in the U.S. or its protectorates for at least three of the last five years. Exceptions may apply for U.S. government service, military dependents, sponsored study abroad programs, or U.S. government contractor/volunteer work.
  • **Probationary Period:** New federal employees will serve a one-year probationary period.
  • **Time in Grade (Federal Employees):** Current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade (or equivalent) by the application deadline.
  • **Political Appointees:** Employment offers for current or former political appointees require Office of Personnel Management (OPM) authorization.
