Summary

Seeking an Administrative/Program Specialist to provide crucial administrative, policy, and communications support for a federal agency.

Are you a highly organized and analytical professional with a passion for supporting federal operations? U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is seeking a skilled individual to contribute to mission administrative programs.

  • *About the Role:**
This role involves providing critical administrative, programmatic, and policy support within a dynamic federal environment. You will contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of various agency initiatives, with responsibilities varying based on grade level (GS-11 or GS-12).

  • *Key Responsibilities (May include, but are not limited to):**
  • Assist with implementing and coordinating mission administrative programs.
  • Coordinate activities of office support staff.
  • Provide analytical support and advise on problem definition, planning methodologies, policies, and procedures.
  • Review submissions for substance, conformance, completeness, and authorization.
  • Serve as a technical expert and advisor, providing oversight for internal communications strategies and high-visibility deliverables (GS-12).
  • Coordinate the identification, analysis, and issuance of policies with managers at various agency levels (GS-12).
  • Evaluate new or modified legislation for its impact on agency projects (GS-12).
  • Act as the focal point for issues affecting assigned programs (GS-12).
  • *Qualifications:**
  • **GS-11 Level:**
* One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-9 level; **or** * A Doctoral or equivalent graduate degree, 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education, or an LL.B. degree; **or** * A combination of qualifying education and specialized experience.
  • **GS-12 Level:**
* One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level.

  • Specialized experience* refers to duties such as assisting with administrative program coordination, providing analytical support, reviewing submissions, or serving as a technical advisor for communications and policy coordination.
  • *Important Information:**
  • **Resume Requirement:** Your resume must explicitly detail how you meet the specialized experience requirements.
  • **Experience Definition:** Both paid and unpaid experience (including volunteer work) will be credited.
  • **Federal Employees:** Current federal employees must meet Time in Grade requirements (52 weeks at the next lower grade) by the closing date of the announcement.
  • **Background Investigation:** As a federal law enforcement agency, CBP requires all applicants to undergo a thorough background investigation, including questions about felony convictions and illegal drug use.
  • **Residency Requirement:** Non-CBP employees must have physically resided in the U.S. or its protectorates for at least three of the last five years. Exceptions may apply for U.S. government-related work or study abroad.
  • **Probationary Period:** New federal employees must serve a one-year probationary period.
  • **Political Appointees:** Current or former political appointees must disclose this information.
  • **CTAP/ICTAP:** Specific eligibility requirements apply for federal career transition programs; a minimum score of 85 is required for consideration.
