## Interdisciplinary Engineer (GS-12/13)

We are seeking a talented Interdisciplinary Engineer to apply advanced engineering and architectural principles to complex building and mechanical systems. This role involves critical support and management tasks, including commissioning, maintenance, operations, and the development of innovative solutions.

### Key Responsibilities (Varies by GS-Level):

  • Apply engineering and/or architectural theories and methods to support Building System Commissioning, Mechanical Systems Engineering, repairs, maintenance, and operations.
  • Support (GS-12) or manage (GS-13) large-scale, complex mechanical systems.
  • Develop and implement new and innovative engineering methods.
### Minimum Qualifications:

  • *Education:**
  • **For Engineering:** Bachelor's degree in Engineering (preferably from an ABET-accredited program) or a related scientific field with professional engineering experience.
  • **For Architecture:** Bachelor's degree in Architecture or Architectural Engineering, or a related field with significant coursework in architectural design, structural technology, materials, and environmental control systems.
  • **Alternative Qualification:** An equivalent combination of college-level education, training, and/or technical experience demonstrating a thorough knowledge of underlying physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences. This may include professional registration (PE, EIT), successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam, or specific academic coursework.
  • *Specialized Experience (in addition to basic requirements):**
  • **For GS-12:** One year of specialized experience applying engineering/architectural theories, principles, and methods to support building system commissioning, mechanical systems engineering, repairs, maintenance, and operations. This includes supporting large-scale, complex mechanical systems and developing innovative engineering methods.
  • **For GS-13:** One year of specialized experience (equivalent to GS-12) demonstrating the ability to *oversee* the application of engineering/architectural theories, *manage* large-scale and complex mechanical systems, and lead the development and implementation of new, innovative engineering methods.
