Job Description
Federal Position Classification Specialist evaluates, classifies, and advises on federal job structures and organizational management.
This federal position involves classifying jobs and advising on position management within the government.
**Key Responsibilities:**
**For GS-11 Level:**
* Evaluate federal position classification standards to determine appropriate job series, title, and grade.
* Provide expert advice and guidance on classification and position management functions.
* Review requests for classification actions.
* Research federal classification policies and procedures, discussing findings with management and employees.
**For GS-12 Level (in addition to GS-11 duties):**
* Develop written classification products such as Factor Evaluation Statements, position descriptions, or determination documents.
* Research and recommend solutions for complex issues impacting agency position classification.
* Provide recommendations to management on organizational design and position management.
**Qualification Requirements:**
**For GS-11 Level (Starting Salary: $84,601.00):**
* **Experience:** One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level performing duties similar to those listed for GS-11 above.
* **Education:** Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, LL.M., OR 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education in a relevant field.
* **Combination:** A combination of qualifying experience and education that totals 100% of the requirements.
**For GS-12 Level (Starting Salary: $101,401.00):**
* **Experience:** One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level performing duties similar to those listed for GS-12 above.
**Important Notes:**
* **Time-in-Grade:** Current or former federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade level (e.g., GS-10 for GS-11, GS-11 for GS-12).
* **Proof of Status:** Current/former federal employees must submit SF-50(s) showing proof of status and time-in-grade eligibility.
* **Experience:** Both paid and unpaid (volunteer) experience that is relevant will be credited.
* **Political Appointees:** Current or former political appointees must disclose this information.
