Advanced Historian/Researcher sought for in-depth historical research, primary source analysis, and findings presentation, requiring specialized experience.
## Research Historian / Analyst (GS-14/15)
We are seeking highly qualified Research Historians/Analysts to conduct in-depth historical research, analyze primary source materials, and present findings to diverse audiences. This role involves meticulous documentation and working with foreign archives. Applicants can apply for either the GS-14 or GS-15 level, each with specific experience requirements.
### Key Responsibilities & Requirements:
- **Advanced Research & Analysis:**
### Basic Qualification (Must meet one of the following):
- **Option A:** A degree in History or a related field that included at least 18 semester hours in History.
- **Option B:** A combination of education and experience – courses equivalent to a major in History (or related field with 18+ semester hours in History), plus appropriate professional experience or additional education.
- *Note: Transcripts are required for both options.*
#### For GS-14 Level (1 year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-13):
- Conducting research by identifying relevant materials in foreign archives.
- Detailing progress of investigative research and outlining next steps.
- Explaining research findings effectively to diverse audiences.
- Participating in peer reviews of research or publications.
- Analyzing primary source materials to prepare substantial original research (e.g., doctoral dissertation, published peer-reviewed article).
- Organizing, tracking, and accounting for documents and sources within large-scale research projects.
- **Foreign Language Proficiency:** Demonstrated knowledge of vocabulary, spelling, grammar, and composition in a foreign language (other than English) to support research tasks.
- **Geographic Expertise:** Experience or knowledge in regions such as Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America, or the Middle East.
