Summary
U.S. Customs and Border Protection seeks an ABA-accredited, actively barred attorney for a federal role requiring background and residency.
This position is with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), a federal law enforcement agency.
- *Key Requirements:**
- **Education & Bar Membership:**
- **Experience:** All qualifying experience, including paid, unpaid, and volunteer work, will be considered.
- **Background Investigation:** As a federal law enforcement agency, CBP requires a thorough background investigation. This includes inquiries into felony convictions/charges, illegal drug use, and misuse of non-prescribed controlled substances.
- **Residency Requirement:** Must have physically resided in the United States or its protectorates for at least three of the last five years. Exceptions may apply for those:
- **Political Appointee Disclosure:** If currently, or within the last 5 years, a political appointee (e.g., Schedule A, Schedule C, Non-career SES, Presidential Appointee), disclosure to the Human Resources Office is required. Offers for such candidates need Office of Personnel Management (OPM) authorization.
- All qualifications must be met by September 12, 2025.
