Summary
Design and develop intuitive, scalable user interfaces for AWS cloud solutions, supporting U.S. Federal agencies.
AWS is seeking a talented Frontend Engineer with strong UX/UI design expertise to create innovative cloud computing solutions for U.S. Federal agencies. This customer-facing role involves designing, developing, and deploying user-friendly interfaces that harness data and unlock advanced AI capabilities.
- *Key Responsibilities:**
- Design and develop intuitive user interfaces and experiences (UX/UI) for cloud-based applications.
- Integrate front-end solutions seamlessly with backend services.
- Collaborate with scientists and application developers to create novel solutions for real-world problems.
- Engage directly with federal agency customers to gather requirements, understand their vision, and iterate on UI/UX designs.
- Create interactive mock-ups, wireframes, and ensure meaningful user experiences for all application users.
- Write custom scripts for interface development and backend component integration.
- Support application testing, presentations, and overall project success.
- Contribute to reusable artifacts and reference architectures.
- *Required Qualifications:**
- U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain a Secret security clearance.
- 4+ years of experience in UX design, product design, interaction design (UI), information architecture, or a similar role.
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
- 2+ years using design tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch) to create interactive mock-ups/wireframes.
- Proficiency in at least one software programming language.
- Familiarity with security best practices for applications, servers, and networks.
- Ability to work from an AWS office or customer site at least 1+ day per week (not a remote position).
- *Preferred Qualifications:**
- Experience and technical expertise in cloud computing technologies (design and implementation).
- Experience leading the design, development, and deployment of business software at scale, or recent hands-on infrastructure experience.
- 4+ years building infrastructure to host and serve applications at scale, including synchronous and asynchronous components.
- 2+ years building backend infrastructure that integrates with the frontend.
- Strong design skills with the ability to create visually appealing user interfaces.
- Experience building interfaces that meet accessibility standards (e.g., Section 508 compliance, eReaders).
