Foreign Affairs Specialist needed to analyze global issues, develop strategies, and brief senior leaders effectively.
FOREIGN AFFAIRS SPECIALIST (GS-10/11/12)
Join our team as a Foreign Affairs Specialist, contributing to critical international initiatives through in-depth analysis, strategic development, and impactful communication. This role involves researching complex global issues and formulating solutions for senior leadership.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Research and analyze a wide variety of international issues to formulate effective solutions.
- Develop and implement long-term strategies to achieve successful outcomes.
- Prepare and deliver clear, concise oral briefings and written correspondence/reports to higher-level managers.
QUALIFICATIONS:
BASIC REQUIREMENTS (One of the following):
- Education: Bachelor's degree (or equivalent 24 semester hours) in International Law and Relations, Political Science, Economics, History, Sociology, Geography, Social/Cultural Anthropology, Law, Statistics, or Humanities.
- Combination: 12 semester hours in one of the above disciplines and 12 semester hours in statistics/quantitative methods.
- Experience & Education: Courses equivalent to a major (24 semester hours) in listed fields, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
- Experience: Four years of experience in foreign affairs, international organizations, or related fields.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS (by Grade Level):
For GS-12 Level:
- One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level (gained in federal or private sector) demonstrating:
For GS-11 Level:
- One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-9 grade level (gained in federal or private sector) demonstrating:
- or A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education.
- or A combination of specialized experience and education.
For GS-10 Level:
- A Master's degree or equivalent graduate degree, or 2 years of progressively higher-level graduate education.
ADDITIONAL NOTES:
- Education must be from a U.S. college or university. Transcripts are required for verification.
- All qualifying experience, including volunteer work (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps, professional, philanthropic), will be credited.
- Your resume should clearly document months and hours worked per week for each employment and not exceed two pages.
