Summary

Lead nationwide environmental, energy, and sustainability programs, providing expert guidance, policy, and training for a federal agency.

Join a federal agency as a key expert in environmental, energy, and sustainability programs. This role involves developing, interpreting, and overseeing critical nationwide initiatives, providing guidance, and delivering training to ensure compliance and promote best practices.

  • *Responsibilities:**
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on environmental, energy, and sustainability laws, regulations, and requirements.
  • Interpret and explain program requirements to management and employees.
  • Resolve complex environmental, energy, and/or sustainability problems and issues.
  • Develop and provide policy, guidance, and oversight for nationwide programs.
  • Deliver training to supervisors and employees on energy and sustainability topics.
  • *Qualifications:**
  • **Experience:** One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level. This experience must explicitly demonstrate:
* Serving as an SME in environmental, energy, and/or sustainability programs. * Interpreting and explaining relevant laws and regulations. * Handling complex program issues. * Providing policy, guidance, and oversight for nationwide programs. * Delivering training on these program areas.
  • **Federal Requirements:**
* Meet all applicable Time-in-Grade requirements (current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent). * Disclose if you are a current or former political appointee within the last 5 years.
  • **U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Specifics:**
* **Background Investigation:** Successful completion of a thorough background investigation is required. This includes inquiries into criminal history and drug use (illegal drugs and non-prescribed controlled substances). * **Residency:** For applicants not currently employed by CBP, you must have physically resided in the U.S. or its protectorates for at least three of the last five years. Exceptions may be considered.
  • **Probationary Period:** New federal employees must serve a one-year probationary period.
