Summary
Lead emergency response, develop preparedness plans, and manage critical incident technologies for U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is seeking an experienced Emergency Management Specialist (GS-14) to lead critical incident response and preparedness efforts within a federal law enforcement agency. This vital role ensures organizational readiness and effective crisis management.
- *Key Responsibilities:**
- Coordinate emergency response operations, ensuring clear communication and efficient resource allocation during incidents.
- Develop and implement comprehensive contingency plans and preparedness training programs for staff.
- Conduct after-action reviews and risk assessments, providing actionable recommendations for strategic improvements.
- Manage emergency notification and live tracking technologies, including integration with modern safety applications.
- *Qualifications:**
- **Experience:** One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level, performing duties such as those listed above. This includes paid, unpaid, and volunteer experience.
- **Time-in-Grade:** (For current federal employees) Must have served 52 weeks at the GS-13 level by November 7, 2025.
- *Requirements:**
- **Background Investigation:** Successful completion of a thorough background investigation is required, including inquiries into criminal history and drug use.
- **Residency:** Applicants not currently employed by CBP must have physically resided in the U.S. or its protectorates for at least three of the last five years. Exceptions may apply for U.S. government service or sponsored study abroad.
- **Probationary Period:** New federal employees will serve a one-year probationary period.
