Serve as a GS-9 Immigration Enforcement Officer, supporting investigations, apprehensions, and deportations with required physical and specialized training.
## Immigration Enforcement Officer (GS-9)
Join a federal agency as an Immigration Enforcement Officer, contributing to the enforcement of immigration laws through investigations, apprehensions, and deportation support. This role requires strong analytical skills, physical fitness, and commitment to comprehensive law enforcement training.
### Core Responsibilities:
- Assist in apprehending individuals accused of violating immigration or related laws.
- Prepare detailed investigative reports supporting potential prosecution or administrative actions.
- Perform essential law enforcement support duties, including fingerprinting and photography.
- Conduct routine interviews and inquiries using various law enforcement methods (e.g., observation, interviews, data analysis).
- Document, transport, deport, and/or escort criminal and non-criminal aliens under senior officer guidance.
Applicants must meet **ONE** of the following:
- **Experience:** One (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-7 grade level. This includes duties such as assisting with apprehensions, preparing investigative reports, performing law enforcement support, conducting routine interviews, and documenting/transporting aliens.
- **Education:** A Master's or equivalent graduate degree (e.g., L.L.B/J.D.), or two (2) academic years of progressively higher-level graduate education from an accredited institution demonstrating relevant knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- **Combination:** A mix of graduate-level education beyond the first full year and specialized experience that collectively meets 100% of the requirements.
### Additional Requirements:
- **Physical Abilities Assessment (PAA):** Must pass prior to graduation from the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC). The PAA consists of:
- **Motor Vehicle Operation:** Possess a valid state driver's license. May need to obtain and maintain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) for operating large passenger vehicles.
- **Age Restrictions:** Generally, candidates must be referred for selection before their 40th birthday. Exceptions may apply for qualified preference-eligible veterans or current/former federal law enforcement officers.
