Job Description

Summary

Protect U.S. borders by enforcing laws, conducting investigations, and assessing threats as a Customs and Border Protection Officer.

Join as a Customs and Border Protection Officer (CBPO) and play a critical role in safeguarding national security and enforcing U.S. laws at our borders. This position requires vigilance, sound judgment, and a commitment to public service.

  • *Key Responsibilities:**
  • Detain and arrest individuals suspected of violating federal, state, or local laws.
  • Enforce import, export, and international shipping laws and regulations.
  • Employ intelligence techniques and behavior analysis to identify potential threats and assess risks.
  • Conduct law enforcement interviews to gather information from suspected violators.
  • Apply regulations and procedures accurately regarding international trade and immigration laws for entry, residency, or departure from the U.S. and its territories.
  • *Qualifications:**
  • **Experience (GS-9 Equivalent):** A minimum of one year of specialized experience (GS-8 equivalent or higher) performing duties such as: detaining/arresting law violators, enforcing import/export laws, utilizing intelligence/behavior analysis for threat identification, and conducting law enforcement interviews.
  • **Education Substitution:** A Master's or higher degree; or two or more years of progressively higher-level graduate education; or an LL.B. or J.D. degree from an accredited university.
  • **Combination:** An equivalent combination of specialized experience and graduate-level education.
  • **National Service/Volunteer Experience:** All qualifying paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work, will be considered.
  • **Background Check:** Ability to successfully pass a Tier 5 National Security investigation for placement and retention.
  • **Uniform & Grooming:** Willingness to wear an approved uniform and adhere to established grooming standards while on duty.
