Job Description
Summary
Enforce federal laws, conduct investigations, and assess threats as a Customs and Border Protection Officer at U.S. borders.
Join as a Customs and Border Protection Officer (GS-9) to enforce federal laws and secure our borders. This role requires rapid judgment and decision-making in complex situations.
- *Key Responsibilities:**
- Detain and arrest individuals violating federal, state, or local laws.
- Enforce laws and regulations related to importing, exporting, and international shipping.
- Utilize intelligence and behavior analysis to identify threats and conduct risk assessments.
- Conduct law enforcement interviews to gather information and determine appropriate actions.
- Apply regulations for merchandise import/export and the entry/exit of persons from the U.S.
- *Qualifications (GS-9):**
- **Experience:** A minimum of 1 year of specialized experience (equivalent to GS-7) performing duties such as detaining violators, enforcing import/export laws, using intelligence for threat assessment, and conducting law enforcement interviews.
- **Education:** A master's (or higher) degree, or two or more years of progressively higher-level graduate education, or an LL.B. or J.D. from an accredited institution.
- **Combination:** A mix of specialized experience and successfully completed graduate-level education.
- **Note on Experience:** Paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations, is credited. Ensure detailed descriptions of duties.
- *Additional Requirements:**
- **Background Investigation:** Must successfully pass a Tier 5 (National Security) investigation for placement and retention.
- **Uniform & Grooming:** Required to wear an officially approved uniform and comply with established grooming standards while on duty.
