Job Description

Summary

Safeguard U.S. borders as a Customs and Border Protection Officer, conducting inspections and enforcing laws to prevent illegal activities.

Join as a Customs and Border Protection Officer (CBPO) to safeguard U.S. borders, conducting vital inspections and enforcing federal laws at various ports of entry.

  • *Key Responsibilities:**
  • Perform physical inspections of individuals, documents, and goods to detect criminal activity, fraud, and illegal operations.
  • Utilize observational techniques, evaluate facts, and review documentation to ensure compliance with Federal, State, and local laws.
  • Make determinations that may lead to arrests, property seizures, fines, or penalties based on findings.
  • Work at borders, seaports, airports, or other ports of entry, including preliminary screening for entry and immigration status.
  • *Qualifications & Requirements:**
  • **Experience (GS-7 Level):** Minimum of one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-6 level. This includes performing inspections for criminal activity/fraud, applying laws to make compliance determinations, and experience at borders/ports of entry or in regulatory work.
  • **Education (GS-7 Level):** A bachelor's degree with Superior Academic Achievement (GPA 3.0+ or honor society membership) or one full year of graduate-level education.
  • **Combination:** A combination of specialized experience and graduate-level education may qualify.
  • **GS-5 Level:** Requires 3 years of general experience (1 year at GS-4 equivalent) or a bachelor's degree.
  • **GS-9 Level:** Previous or current law enforcement or military law enforcement experience may qualify at this higher level.
  • **National Service:** Paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps), is recognized and receives credit.
  • **Background Investigation:** Must successfully undergo and pass a Tier 5 National Security investigation.
  • **Uniform & Grooming Standards:** Adherence to officially approved uniform and grooming standards is required while on duty.
