Job Description
Summary
CBP Officer enforcing import/export and immigration laws, conducting investigations, and securing borders, requiring specialized experience or advanced education.
As a Customs and Border Protection Officer (GS-9), you will enforce federal laws and secure our borders. This role requires rapid, accurate judgment and commitment to national security.
- *Key Responsibilities:**
- Detain and arrest individuals suspected of violating federal, state, or local laws.
- Enforce laws and regulations related to importing, exporting, and international shipping.
- Utilize intelligence and behavior analysis to identify threats and conduct risk assessments.
- Conduct law enforcement interviews to gather critical information.
- Apply regulations, instructions, and procedures for trade and immigration enforcement.
- *Qualifications (GS-9 Grade Level):**
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria:
- **Experience:** One year of specialized experience (equivalent to GS-7) involving law enforcement methods, import/export regulation enforcement, intelligence techniques, and conducting law enforcement interviews.
- **Education:** A Master's or higher degree, two years of progressively higher-level graduate education, or an LL.B./J.D. from an accredited institution.
- **Combination:** A blend of specialized experience and graduate-level education.
- *Additional Requirements:**
- Successfully pass a Tier 5 National Security background investigation.
- Comply with officially approved uniform and grooming standards.
- Volunteer and National Service experience (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) is credited as qualifying experience.
